AT: Our House of Portland upstairs conference room
2727 SE Alder Street, Portland, 27214
Come drink from the well of ancient Shadhili teachings and the hearts of fellow travelers. This Sufi group continues to pray and do dhikr as we read, contemplate, and share from The Book of Illumination by Shayhk Ibn Ata’Allah al-Iskandari.
This Shadhili Shaykh, the first Sufi follower of al-Shadhili to systematically explain the master’s teachings in writing, reveals mystical and transformative teachings that deeply move sincere beloveds. To quote Ibn Ata’Allah, “The bountiful giving of God reaches people only when they empty themselves of self-concern and restrain their hands from self-preoccupations.”
Facilitated by Hamid Werder, Nura Khan and guest teachers
Someone from our group will be at the downstairs front door to let you in from 5:50 to 6:10 p.m. After 6:10 there will be no one present to admit you. Drop-ins welcome.
We are grateful to Our House of Portland for allowing us use of their conference room for our Sufi study group. In gratitude to Our House for the use of their conference room, we comply with their tradition of bringing an item of non-perishable food for Esther’s Pantry, a food bank for people with HIV/AIDS. In addition we pay them a minimum of $25.00 per session. ALL DONATIONS APPRECIATED!
